A Career Built Across Youth Sports Operations and Partnerships
GameChanger, the DICK’S Sporting Goods-owned platform for scorekeeping, live streaming, and team management, has named David Shapiro as its new Senior Vice President of Sales & Business Development.
Shapiro joins from Pixellot, where he served as President of North America and oversaw all U.S. and Canadian operations for the automated sports production company. His background spans executive roles across youth sports organizations focused on both technology and athlete development.
At GameChanger, Shapiro will lead B2B sales and partnership strategy while overseeing business development, clinics and conventions, lead generation, and strategic relationships across the youth sports ecosystem.
From Steel Sports to the Scorekeeping Giant
Before Pixellot, Shapiro served as CEO of Steel Sports, where he managed five business units that collectively generated more than $20 million in annual revenue. The organization reached more than 130,000 youth athletes during his tenure.
Shapiro also spent more than two decades with Positive Coaching Alliance, holding positions including Chief Revenue Officer and Director of Business Development. He served 12 years on the organization’s executive team before departing in 2015, and continued as a member of PCA’s National Board of Directors until 2024.
“David brings a rare combination of deep youth sports experience and proven commercial leadership,” said Sameer Ahuja, president of GameChanger and senior vice president of DICK’S Sporting Goods. “He has spent his entire career building trusted partnerships, scaling businesses, and serving communities that care deeply about sports and character development.”
GameChanger Continues Executive Expansion
Shapiro is the fourth executive leadership addition at GameChanger in recent months. The company has also appointed Cynthia Kleinbaum Milner as Chief Commercial Officer, Brandon Rhodes as General Manager of Emerging Sports, and Briana Larkin as Chief People Officer.
The platform currently covers more than 9 million games annually and serves over 1 million teams per year. GameChanger offers live streaming and scheduling for all youth sports, with deeper statistics and scorekeeping capabilities for baseball, softball, and basketball.
A former collegiate baseball player at UC Davis, Shapiro remains active in youth sports as a league board member and parent of three student-athletes. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Managerial Economics from UC Davis and completed the Executive Program for Non-Profit Leaders at Stanford Graduate School of Business.
Building the B2B Side of Youth Sports Tech
The hire signals GameChanger’s continued investment in its business-to-business relationships with leagues, organizations, and partners. As the company pursues its stated goal of becoming “The Home of Youth Sports,” adding an executive with deep roots in both nonprofit youth development and commercial sports operations positions the platform to expand its organizational partnerships alongside its consumer-facing growth.
