In an effort to increase physical activity opportunities and drive inclusion in youth sports, the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) is offering several impactful grant programs. These initiatives aim to break down barriers, uplift underrepresented groups, and transform local park and recreation agencies into hubs of equitable sports programming.
Youth Sport Equity Grant Program
Powered by Musco Lighting, this $20,000 grant provides funding to local park and recreation agencies to develop innovative projects that increase inclusive access to sports. The grant also includes an in-kind donation of Musco Lighting infrastructure, such as lighting or a mini pitch, to enhance the grantee’s project.

Million Coaches Challenge Grant
Developed by the Susan Crown Exchange, this program offers no-cost training to youth-serving professionals in parks and recreation. The goal is to equip staff and volunteers with the skills to foster positive youth development through sports. Training partners include renowned organizations like the Positive Coaching Alliance and Center for Healing and Justice Through Sport.
Gender Equity in Youth Sport Community of Practice
Powered by Nike, this $20,000 grant supports local agencies in testing and piloting activities that increase girls’ access to sports. In addition to implementing a gender equity project, grantees will participate in an NRPA-led community of practice, unlocking opportunities for education and networking around advancing female participation and representation in coaching.
