Allstate, the U.S. Soccer Foundation and U.S. Men’s National Team midfielder Tyler Adams opened a new youth soccer mini-pitch at Sandtown Park in South Fulton, Georgia, on July 21. The hard-court field is the third installation in a multi-year partnership between Allstate and Adams that donates one mini-pitch each year to a community somewhere in the country.
What Is a Mini-Pitch and Why It Expands Youth Access
A mini-pitch is a small, hard-court soccer field built for communities that may not have access to full-size fields, according to the U.S. Soccer Foundation. The compact format lets more young people play pickup games and organized sessions in neighborhoods where open field space is limited.
At the July 21 opening, Adams greeted dozens of children at a youth clinic led by grassroots partners For Soccer and Champions Soccer Academy, who ran drills for kids from Atlanta-area organizations. For Soccer describes itself as a national platform focused on growing the sport and expanding access for marginalized communities. Champions Soccer Academy, a nonprofit serving South Fulton, works to build soccer skills alongside teamwork and sportsmanship. The event also featured local food vendors, a DJ and inflatable soccer games.
A Third Field in a Multi-Year Allstate and Adams Partnership
The Sandtown Park pitch follows two earlier installations opened with the U.S. Soccer Foundation: one in 2025 at Bell Avenue Elementary School in Philadelphia and one in 2024 at Fisher Academy in Detroit, according to Allstate.
The timing lands as Atlanta builds on its role as a host city for major international soccer events this summer, which Allstate said brought increased attention to the sport across the region. Adams tied the moment to his own experience. “I’m reminded how much soccer has shaped who I am,” he said, adding that a safe, local place to play can matter for a kid as attention on the sport grows.
For Allstate, the investment fits a soccer commitment that spans more than two decades and includes partnerships with U.S. Soccer, Major League Soccer, MLS NEXT and the Allstate Sueño Alianza program, the company said. Allstate reports more than 212 million policies in force.
How the U.S. Soccer Foundation Scales Community Play Spaces
The South Fulton field is one of more than 900 mini-pitches the U.S. Soccer Foundation has opened nationwide, the Foundation said, including two in Poughkeepsie, New York, where Adams grew up and first played the game. The organization plans to reach 1,000 installations by the end of the year.
Heath Pearce, president at For Soccer, pointed to what happens once the ribbon is cut. “The most powerful part of a mini-pitch is what happens after the unveiling,” he said, describing kids who return to play with friends and start to feel the game belongs to them.
Closing In on 1,000 as Atlanta’s Soccer Profile Rises
With the Sandtown Park opening, Allstate and Adams have now brought permanent play spaces to three cities in three years, and the U.S. Soccer Foundation sits within roughly 100 installations of its 1,000 target. The open question is the one Pearce named: whether the field keeps filling with returning players once the vendors and the DJ pack up, in a metro area whose soccer profile keeps climbing.
