Key Takeaways
- Chegg’s new Unrivaled deal includes a Miami club night with outreach built for local schools and students, putting a pro league directly in front of young players.
- GEICO’s agreement is the insurer’s first leaguewide investment in women’s sports, with its logo on the back of all eight Unrivaled club uniforms.
- Both multiyear partnerships pair jersey placement with original content: a Hive BC YouTube docuseries for Chegg and a season-long creator program for GEICO.
Unrivaled, the athlete-founded women’s professional basketball league, signed two multiyear partners in six days: GEICO as its official auto, property and commercial insurance partner on October 29, 2026, and Chegg as its Official Student Success Partner on November 4. The GEICO agreement is the company’s first leaguewide investment in women’s sports, according to the league. For youth sports, the Chegg deal is the one to study. It is a women’s sports sponsorship designed around students, schools and the next generation of players.
How Chegg Is Activating With Students and Schools
Chegg, a learning and employability company, is also the presenting partner of Hive Basketball Club (Hive BC), one of Unrivaled’s clubs. Its branding will appear on Hive BC’s game and practice jerseys, and it will present the club’s all-access YouTube docuseries, the league said.
The centerpiece for younger audiences is a dedicated Hive Club Night presented by Chegg at Sephora Arena in Miami. According to the announcement, the event will feature interactive in-game experiences, player meet-and-greets, autograph opportunities and community outreach designed to engage local schools and students, connecting professional athletes with the next generation of basketball talent.
Chegg will also connect the league’s community to Internships.com Powered by Chegg, which links students with work experience and digital academic support. Heather Hatlo Porter, Chief Brand Officer at Chegg, said the company is focused on “meeting students where their passions lie.”
How Are Brands Reaching Young Women’s Basketball Fans?
GEICO’s deal leans on content and athletes young fans already follow. The company will serve as presenting partner of the Unrivaled Creator Crew, a season-long program featuring creators across sports, culture, lifestyle and entertainment who will produce original content in multiple tour-stop markets during the league’s third season, per Unrivaled.
The league agreement builds on GEICO’s existing sponsorships of Unrivaled co-founder Napheesa Collier and incoming Unrivaled athlete Olivia Miles, the WNBA Rookie of the Year. Arianna Orpello, GEICO’s chief marketing officer, called Unrivaled “a disruptive league” and noted GEICO has been a disruptive brand for 90 years.
Across both deals, the jersey is only one piece. Docuseries, creator content and league-owned digital and social channels carry the rest of the value, according to the two announcements.
A Club-Level Sponsorship Model Youth Operators Already Know
Chegg’s structure stands out for youth club directors and tournament operators. Rather than buying only league-level rights, Chegg holds both a league designation and the presenting rights to a single club.
“As we continue to grow the individual brands for each club, we’re proud to welcome Chegg as presenting partner of Hive BC,” said Taylor Lake, VP of Partnerships at Unrivaled.
The inventory in that package maps closely to what youth organizations already control: team jerseys, practice apparel, a signature event night, community programming with schools, and behind-the-scenes content. The difference is the brand category. Chegg sells to students, and its activation is built to reach them through basketball rather than alongside it.
Hive Club Night Will Test the Student Pitch After the January 8 Tip-Off
Unrivaled’s third season tips off January 8, 2027. New jerseys featuring GEICO, part of the league’s previously announced adidas partnership, will be unveiled in the coming months, and matchups for each game date will be revealed November 6, the league said.
The league has not yet announced the date of Hive Club Night or which schools and student groups the outreach will include. Those details will show how far a pro women’s league sponsorship can reach into youth basketball.
