In 2016 GameChnager was acquired by Dicks Sporting Goods and it has since been elevated to one of the country’s top youth sports apps:
- Comprehensive youth sports app offering scorekeeping, stats, live streaming, live updates, scheduling, and team communication features.
- Trusted by over 500,000 teams worldwide.Facilitated scoring for 26 million games.Generated over 300,000 hours of content.
- Supports more than 20 sports.
- Over 5 million unique visitors last quarter, with an average user spending 30 minutes per day on the app.
- GameChanger is on track to exceed $100 million in revenue this year, a small contribution to Dick’s Sporting Goods’ $13 billion net revenue.
- Lyoalty members that are on the GameChanger app spend 2x more than loyalty members not on the app.
Navdeep Gupta – Dick’s CFO said on a recent earnings call that “GameChanger is a very high growth platform both on a sales basis, but is also very profitable platform. So by itself the business is fantastic. The other thing we haven’t talked a lot about is the fact that athletes are both GameChanger users and Scorecard users – have 2x the revenue profile of just a Scorecard user so that indicates the level of engagement that we have with these multichannel athletes is really interesting and exciting in the long term opportunity it presents”
Via: Joe Pomp: One of my favorite sports business statistics is that Dick’s Sporting Goods stock is up 623% over the last five years, or 6.5x more than the S&P 500 over the same period. So, today’s podcast breaks down the details, including how Dick’s has used acquisitions to build hundreds of retail stores and why the company’s tech stack could end up being its most profitable product.
