Key Takeaways
- LGND surveyed more than 1,000 Perfect Game families before finalizing product decisions on its two launch glove lines
- Perfect Game named LGND the Official Glove of Perfect Game, with year-round integration across events, digital platforms and national programming
- The brand debuts publicly on July 27 at The Yard in Fullerton, California, with 300 gloves released at the event
- Betts is an active Los Angeles Dodgers All-Star and six-time Gold Glove winner, not a retired endorser
Perfect Game announced on July 20 that it has named LGND Glove, the equipment brand tied to Los Angeles Dodgers All-Star Mookie Betts, the Official Glove of Perfect Game. The partnership launches publicly on July 27 at the LGND Block Party at The Yard in Fullerton, California, where the company said 300 gloves will be released.
What the Perfect Game Glove Partnership Covers
Perfect Game describes itself as the world’s largest youth baseball and softball platform and scouting service. Under the agreement, LGND receives year-round integration across Perfect Game events, digital platforms, athlete experiences and national programming, according to the announcement.
Two product lines launch with the partnership. The Mook Series carries Betts’ signature stamped in the palm, his game-worn colorway and the 50 Tri-Star logo embroidered on the thumb. The MVRK Series uses the same Japanese leather construction in a collection built for multi-position versatility.
Perfect Game called the arrangement first-of-its-kind, citing the combination of an active MLB player at the peak of his career and the amateur baseball ecosystem’s largest platform. The company said no other glove brand currently enters the market with both an exclusive Perfect Game partnership and the backing of an active MVP-caliber player.
How 1,000 Family Surveys Shaped the Product
LGND’s development process drew on surveys of more than 1,000 Perfect Game families to determine what players want most in a glove, per the announcement. That input informed product decisions before launch rather than after.
“Everything about LGND started with players,” said Betts. “We listened to what athletes actually wanted in a glove and built around that. Partnering with Perfect Game allows us to bring those products directly to the next generation of baseball players.”
The survey mechanic is the part of this deal most transferable to other categories. Perfect Game’s database of participating families is an asset with commercial value beyond event registration and scouting fees, and this partnership puts that asset to work as a product research channel.
Why an Active Player Changes the Endorsement Math
Most youth equipment endorsements run through retired players or league licensing. Betts is currently active, a six-time Gold Glove Award winner, and visible on national broadcasts throughout the season the partnership launches.
“Mookie is one of the most accomplished and respected players in baseball, but beyond that, he understands what young athletes value,” said Perfect Game Chairman Rick Thurman. “LGND was built with those athletes in mind, and we believe this will redefine expectations for baseball equipment partnerships.”
Perfect Game said the partnership reaches millions of athletes and families annually through its platform. Neither party disclosed financial terms, contract length, or whether the agreement includes exclusivity provisions that block competing glove brands from Perfect Game events.
300 Gloves in Fullerton Will Be the First Real Data Point
The July 27 Block Party doubles as the brand’s retail debut and its first demand test. Alongside the 300-glove release, the event includes on-field drills, celebrity appearances, food trucks, a Mookie Betts raffle experience and additional giveaways. Gloves are available through LGNDSports.com.
What the announcement does not answer is scale. A 300-unit drop at a single Southern California event is a launch, not a distribution strategy, and Perfect Game runs tournaments and showcases in markets across the country year-round. How quickly LGND converts that national event calendar into inventory and shelf presence is the number worth tracking after Fullerton.
