Over the years, True Lacrosse has emerged as one of the largest youth lacrosse organizations in the United States. With over 500 teams across 23 states, the organization has expanded its reach from coast to coast, fostering a grassroots movement in local communities.
Co-founders Jake Deane and Mike Gabel, both former professional lacrosse players, have focused on growing the sport’s base by partnering with local communities. These partnerships ultimately fuel True Lacrosse’s travel teams, events, and camps, creating a comprehensive ecosystem for lacrosse development.
Strengthening Ties with USA Lacrosse
True Lacrosse has significantly expanded its relationship with USA Lacrosse, the national governing body for the sport. “They’ve really been in lockstep with what we do,” said Lou Corsetti, USA Lacrosse’s regional director. “Their club programs are now fully aligned with our membership program, and they’ve embraced our new coaching pathways with their coaches.”
The partnership began through the Illinois Boys’ Lacrosse Association (IBLA), a youth league comprising over 4,000 players in 43 programs, where Gabel serves as president. The IBLA has been part of USA Lacrosse’s membership program and has welcomed USA Lacrosse staff members to its annual coaching convention for the past three years.
Comprehensive Lacrosse Experience
True Lacrosse aims to provide a comprehensive lacrosse experience for players of all ages and skill levels. With over 100 full-time coaches, directors, recruiting advisors, and support staff, the organization offers a holistic approach to lacrosse development.
“We want to be a one-stop shop for your lacrosse experience – from youth all the way through high school,” said Dan Forsyth, True Lacrosse’s chief executive officer. “Our model allows us to meet players where they are in their development, and every coach provides the same level of attention, coaching, and support.”
Local Presence, National Impact
Despite its national footprint, True Lacrosse maintains a local mindset, hosting programs in major cities with dedicated directors. This approach provides convenient access to training and practices for families across the country, broadening the scope of lacrosse participation.
Embracing USA Lacrosse Standards
True Lacrosse has adopted USA Lacrosse’s membership program for its club and travel teams and the organization’s age-verification service for summer tournaments. “We’re embracing everything USA Lacrosse has to offer,” said Gabel. “We see real benefits in the future and the growth of our sport by supporting USA Lacrosse.”
