Key Takeaways
- Roughly 12,000 people turned out for the Houston stop at Traders Village, the largest single crowd of the eight-market run, per NBCUniversal.
- Comcast NBCUniversal distributed $600,000 to 17 nonprofits through the Vamos World Cup Soccer Forward Initiative, in partnership with the U.S. Soccer Federation’s Soccer Forward Foundation.
- The tour ran from December 11 in Santa Clara through July 10 at Rockefeller Center, spanning the full build-up to and midpoint of FIFA World Cup 2026.
- Local Telemundo stations, MLS and USL clubs, and civic officials anchored individual stops rather than a single national activation footprint.
Telemundo has completed the mobile experience tour behind Tu Momento. Tu Jugada., a sports impact initiative built around its position as the exclusive Spanish-language broadcaster of FIFA World Cup 2026. According to NBCUniversal, the tour made eight stops across the United States between December 2025 and July 2026, pairing soccer clinics and mentorship sessions with fan activations, and it was accompanied by $600,000 in grants to 17 nonprofit organizations.
How Large Was the Youth Soccer Community Tour?
Attendance varied widely by market. The opening stop on December 11 at Santa Clara Youth Soccer Park, next to Levi’s Stadium, drew more than 600 students and community members, NBCUniversal said. The Los Angeles stop two days later at the LAB FIVE Gardena facility engaged more than 400 youth participants and was timed to the U.S. Soccer Foundation’s Unity Cup. Dallas brought more than 200 youth and families to Toyota Stadium.
Houston was the outlier. The April 12 event at Traders Village drew roughly 12,000 local residents and families, according to the company, and the Mayor of Houston issued a proclamation naming it “Tu Momento. Tu Jugada. Day” and recognizing Telemundo Houston as the “Official Home of Fútbol.” That single stop accounted for more attendance than the Bay Area, Los Angeles, and Dallas events combined.
Where the $600,000 in Grants Landed
The grant component ran through the Vamos World Cup Soccer Forward Initiative, awarded by Comcast NBCUniversal in partnership with the Soccer Forward Foundation. NBCUniversal said the $600,000 went to 17 nonprofits that use soccer to expand opportunity and develop leadership.
Distribution was tied to tour stops. In Dallas, Telemundo 39 KXTX presented Soccer Forward Foundation grants and framed jerseys at halftime of an FC Dallas match. In Philadelphia on May 17 and 18, grants went to Safe-Hub Philadelphia and the JT Dorsey Foundation alongside a Safe-Hub soccer clinic held at an ACME Markets location. Houston and Washington, D.C. also included local grant presentations.
Club and Station Partnerships Carried Each Market
The tour leaned on local operators rather than a uniform national build. San Jose Earthquakes Soccer, Oakland Roots Sports Club, and Oakland Soul Sports Club ran clinics and mentorship sessions at the Bay Area opener. FC Dallas hosted mini pitches and skill drills at Toyota Stadium. The Miami stop at Homestead SoccerLand Park brought together the U.S. Soccer Foundation, Adidas, The Children’s Trust, and Griffin Catalyst in collaboration with Miami SCORES Powered by Concacaf, Comcast, and Telemundo 51, timed to 30 days out from the tournament.
The Washington, D.C. stop on June 3 at Audi Field aligned with the 2026 Congressional Soccer Match and featured a Telemundo Mini Pitch, a broadcast booth, player trading cards, and soccer drills. New York’s June 18 event took place at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park.
The mobile tour was one piece of a broader initiative that also included Café Golazo, a community conversation series, and ¡Sí, Coach!, a Spanish-language platform, per NBCUniversal.
A Banner Break at Rockefeller Center Ends the Run
The final activation took place July 10 at the Telemundo Fan Village at Rockefeller Center, where young players from DV7 Group broke through a banner onto the pitch. Telemundo partnered with the Hispanic Federation for the closing event and received a proclamation from the New York City Council recognizing the initiative.
For youth sports operators, the structure is the takeaway: a broadcaster converted rights inventory into eight local activations, 17 funded nonprofits, and standing relationships with clubs and foundations in each market. What NBCUniversal has not disclosed is whether any of it continues once the tournament ends.
